Latvian rappers released a new song

Pikaso released a new song called Grēkāzis with the help of other Latvian rappers – Eliots and DJ Monsta.

We have actually talked with Pikaso once. We called him the Latvian rap music truehead. We still call him that. You can read about him in Estonian from here. Google Translate it.

One thing that I remember from this interview is that for Pikaso music is an universal language – so you should enjoy the magical Latvian rap.

Where did the song ‘Grēkāzis’ come from?

The song ‘Grēkāzis‘ actually originates from a lyricists tournament that Pikaso organised last summer (2014) – oppose to freestyle battles, the core concept of this tournament was to put emphasis on the quality of lyrics content-wise, and thus the contestants would match up against each other with pre-written hot & smart 16 bars on various themes given beforehand, and the crowd would choose who is to go further in the tournament.

Long story short, Eliots won the tournament and made a song using some of the lyrics he had presented in the tournament and added some more once he knew what the song is gonna be about. Pikaso produced the song for him and landed on the hook together with DJ Monsta.

It took them a while to deliver this recording, with mix/master done in Melbourne. When they finally got the thumbs up from Tim Dalton (who has worked with Beastie Boys, Run Dmc, Ice T, Public Enemy and many more) saying that he liked the record, we decided to release the track.
